Our early childhood program is outstanding! Enrollment continues to grow and exceed our expectations! We are hiring a teacher for a new classroom of students who are on our waiting list! This is a great opportunity to join Hancock Place! Apply today! #hpsdtigers
What a GREAT FIRST DAY! Attendance is SO IMPORTANT; 77 out of 80 full day students were present today! Wonderful job with arrival procedures this morning! Please be sure to stay at your car for dismissal and our staff will bring your child out to you. You must buckle your child into their car seat. We do our best to keep traffic moving safely and as quick as possible through efficiency. It is important that you show up on time. ECC will start dismissal from our entry doors at 3pm and the ES will start at 3:15pm in the back off of Horn Avenue. Remember, attendance is important, so please continue bringing your child to school every day; research overwhelmingly shows that students with excellent attendance achieve in school at higher rates than those who tend to miss school often. Hope your child has a lot of wonderful details to share with you about their first day!
As most of you know, we partner with IFM, Institute for Family Medicine, to provide an on site health clinic connected to our central office and preschool building. This message is for anyone interested in making an appointment for a Mammography Exam on Thursday, August 22, 2024, through the use of the Mercy Mammography Van, which will be parked on the Central Office parking lot, at 9417 South Broadway. Please see the attached flyers.
FIRST DAY EXCITEMENT! We can't wait to see our little learners and their parents this morning. As mentioned in my video and documents, please stay in your car and in your lane on the parking lot, and a staff member will come to your car to get your child out of your car and walk them in through the entrance to the preschool. REMEMBER, some children may cry, kick, and hit until they become more familiar with routine. Do not attempt to walk your child to the building from your car. If you are a walker, please line up to the sides of the entrance where our staff will walk your child in. Our goal is for arrival and dismissal to be safe, and for this to occur, we truly need you to commit to meeting our expectations. We must keep the lines moving safely so that we don't have traffic backing up out on to the roads. Remember that the ENTER ONLY to our parking lot is directly behind Seven 11, and the EXIT ONLY is out to Broadway. Please take your pictures in the car and from the car. Teachers will be taking pictures to share with you, including with an awesome prop! See you soon as we open the doors at 8am every morning!
EXCITING! Your child's first school day this year is Monday, August 19th! We can't wait! Please be sure to watch our YouTube Video for arrival and dismissal at the Early Childhood Center, and I also included two attachments with typed directions.

We are looking forward to the 2024-2025 school year! Hancock Place School District opens for students on Monday, August 19th. Students will be at the bus stops and walking to school. Use caution and help keep our students safe. #hpsdtigers
A reminder from @MoDOT_StLouis if you're driving on a two-lane connected roadway, you MUST STOP for school buses with flashing lights and an extended 'stop' sign. This is the law for traffic moving the same AND opposite directions of the bus. On roadways with four or more lanes, traffic flowing the same direction of the bus must stop. Traffic on the other side of the median or barrier should use caution.
GREAT OPPORTUNITY for some district residents and staff! August 22, 2024, from 9am to 4pm, the Mercy Mammography Van will be located at our Central Office parking lot, 9417 S. Broadway. Call to schedule an appointment at 314-251-6300, select option 0. Please see both attached fliers for requirements and more details!
Hello Tiger Preschool Parents,
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! I attached a general supply list that is for every preschool student; you will notice on the list that your child's teacher will share a second list specific to their classroom. It is tax free weekend coming up, so I wanted to get this list out to you if you hadn't already pulled it from our website. You will hear from your child's teacher, by the middle of next week at the latest, as an introduction and regarding our Back to School Events: preschool classes at the ECC will be Tuesday, August 13th from 5pm to 7pm; and preschool classes at the elementary school on Thursday, August 15th from 5pm to 7pm.
We are now accepting the required $30 registration fee that is due before your child's first day. Lissa Vargas will be at both Back to School events to accept cash, check, or take your credit or debit card information (a convenience fee is added for card use) for payment. Please contact her with questions at 314-544-1300, ext. 11070.
Tuition, Before Care, and After Care fees must be paid before your child's first day. These payments are collected by Bridget Fusco. She can accept cash, check, or take your credit or debit card information (a convenience fee is added for card use) for payment. Please contact her with questions at 314-544-1300, ext. 10000.
We are excited and can't wait to see you and your child!
We have an amazing preschool program that is 5 days per week and full day from 8am to 3pm. We also have before care starting at 7am for only $87 monthly, and after care from 3pm to 5:30pm for only $122 monthly.
It is FREE to all district residents, and ONLY $450 monthly if you live outside of our district's boundaries. We had 17 nonresident students last year due to the quality and cost of our program! This is much cheaper than most, if not all, other TRUE educational based preschools and childcare centers.
SPOTS fill up quickly. We currently have 4 classrooms available for full day, and 2 and 1/2 of them are already filled. We cap our full day classrooms at 20 students and provide a qualified and certified teacher and qualified teacher assistant to each classroom. Our teachers and teacher assistants meet the qualifications for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, present at conferences, and are visited by other school districts' staff members, state representatives, county officials, agencies, and others to see the outstanding practices taking place on a daily basis at all times. We teach to the Missouri Early Learning Standards using universal screening tools, competency based instruction, progress monitoring, data analysis, and parent communication!
Our wrap around services are second to NONE! We partner with many agencies, organizations, and others, including but not limited to Ready Readers, The Little Bit Foundation, Special School District, Institute for Family Medicine, SLU, St. Louis County Library, and MORE!
Please feel free to share this post and/or information with others! Remember that SPOTS FILL UP QUICKLY, so it is important to visit ps.hpsd.school to enroll!
Congratulations HPMS and HPHS for their success in each accomplishing recognition as a State and National School of Character. The process for this is rigorous, as it requires a leader to coordinate, organize, and complete. Mr. Veldhuizen and Mr. Ferguson spearheaded these respective processes to their completion in their respective buildings. Teamwork was definitely needed and included staff, community members, parents, and students! There is a written application and then a virtual visit. The written application requires narratives about your character journey and how you implement the 11 principles of character (a narrative for each principle). You have to provide academic and discipline data, demographic data, and survey data. The virtual site visit involves 30 minute interviews with the following groups: administrators/counselors, teachers, character education committee, and parents/community members. Well deserved CONGRATULATIONS!
-Dr. Dittrich
